Urgent and Rush Service

One Legal's service levels explained

Urgent and Rush service are expedited options for time-sensitive orders that require real-world delivery or service (for example, delivery to a courthouse or sheriff’s office, or service upon a person or business). These options help your order move faster than our standard timelines.

What’s the difference between Urgent and Rush?

Service of Process: Rush Service (Guaranteed Service Level)

Rush Service is a defined service level for Service of Process with a specific maximum timeframe.

  • Maximum timeframe: First attempt within 1 day; all attempts and affidavit within 7 days
  • Average performance: First attempt within 24 hours; completion in 3–5 days

Details: Attempts may occur daily, including weekends, to complete service quickly

Physical Deliveries: Urgent Service (Best Effort Expedited)

For Physical Court Filing, Courtesy Copy Delivery, and Sheriff Delivery, we offer standard service levels by court/location—and an Urgent option for faster handling.

Standard delivery timelines vary by court and location. You can check deadlines and service levels using our Court Service Availability tool.

Urgent service adds $90 to the standard service fee. Urgent service moves your order immediately to the top of the queue so a staff member reviews it right away during business hours (Monday–Friday).

We will do our very best to dispatch your order to a court runner or server as quickly as possible and follow your special instructions.

Important note: Because court operations, runner availability, and local conditions can vary, Urgent service is an expedited best-effort option and isn’t a guaranteed delivery time. If you have a firm deadline, include it clearly in your special instructions so we can work toward it.

How to request Urgent or Rush service

When placing your order, select the expedited option (Urgent or Rush) when selecting a service level on the order information page.

Include clear special instructions

If your order has a specific deadline or special delivery requirements, add them in Special Instructions. For example:

  • “Must be delivered today before 3:00 PM PT”
  • “Deliver to the Clerk’s Office, Civil Division”
  • “Call upon arrival; security requires escort”

Make sure your contact information is up to date
