When we're unable to complete service at the address you provided, you don't have to start over. Address Research is a $25 service where our team looks for a more current address for the party, so you can attempt service again. You're only charged if we find a new address.
Before You Start
Address Research becomes available once an order reaches a Non-Service or Bad Address status. Until then, the option won't appear on the order.
You'll need one thing ready: any detail you know about the party that might help the search. This is required to submit the request.
How to Request Address Research
1. Open the order from your Orders page and go to the Order Details page.
2. Find the What would you like to do next? panel. You'll see three options.

3. Select Research a better address (marked Recommended). The request window opens.

4. Review the party name and the Address already attempted, which shows the address we tried, the number of attempts, and the outcome. Confirm this is the right party before continuing.
5. Fill in What do you know that could help? This field is required. Anything you can add improves the odds: age, alternate spellings of the name, employer, past addresses, or family members.
6. Check I agree to the Address Research terms. Use the arrow next to it to expand and read the terms first.
7. Select Request Research. The button becomes available once the help field is filled in and the terms box is checked.

Choosing Between the Three Options
Address Research is one of three ways to move forward. Here's how they compare:

Serve at a new address
Choose this if you already have another address for the party. We'll take you into a new process serve order using that address, with your original case documents already attached, and you'll review the estimated charges before submitting. If the new address falls in a different service zone, the fee may differ from your original order.

Retry same address
Choose this if you believe the address is correct and want another attempt. You'll be asked What should our server know?, which is required. Add anything that would help: best times to catch them, gate codes, or vehicle details.

What Happens Next
Your Address Research request is created as its own order, carrying over the matter number and court information from the original serve order, so you can find it alongside your other orders.
While the search is underway, that order shows a status of In Progress, and the Address Research Results section shows the estimated turnaround. Results are typically back within 1 to 2 business days. Rush service isn't available for Address Research.

When the research is finished, you'll be notified that the order is complete. The notification won't contain the results themselves, so open the Order Details page to see what we found.
Understanding Your Results
Any addresses we find are listed in the Address Research Results section of the order, each with the date range it was reported for the party. There's no separate report or document to download.
We share address information only. Results won't include phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, or other personal details.
If we can't find an address more current than the one already attempted, we'll note that on the order and you won't be charged.

Serving at an Address We Found
Each address in the results has its own Serve button. Select it for the address you'd like to use, and we'll open a new process serve order for the party at that address, with your original case documents already attached. Review the details and estimated charges, then submit.
Billing
- You're charged $25 only when we find an address beyond the one already attempted.
- There's no charge if we come up empty, or if the only address we can confirm is the one you already tried.
