Certain details about your document may prevent your PDF from being accepted by the eFiling system. These include:
- Document contains editable fields
- Document contains metadata
- Document is password protected
If your PDF document has any of these issues, it may fail submission before reaching the court.
Finalizing your PDF
Before uploading your document, take these steps to finalize the PDF to avoid issues while eFiling.
On a Windows PC
To prepare your PDF for eFiling on a Windows PC:
- Open Your PDF:
- Use any PDF viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat) to open the file.
- Print to PDF:
- Go to File > Print.
- Instead of selecting a physical printer, choose:
- Adobe PDF, or
- Microsoft Print to PDF.
- Advanced Print Settings:
- Click on the Advanced button in the Print window.
- Ensure the Print As Image option is selected.
- Click OK to return to the Print dialog.
- Save the PDF:
- When saving, select Save as "Other" > Reduced Size PDF.
- Make sure the compatibility is set to Adobe 9.0 or later.
- Rename the file and save it.
- Try uploading the newly saved PDF to the eFiling system.
On a Mac:
To prepare your PDF for eFiling on a Mac:
- Open Your PDF:
- Open the PDF in any supported PDF viewer (such as Preview or Adobe Acrobat).

Export or Save as PDF:
- Check the Export to PDF option under File menu:
- If available, select it and follow the prompts to rename and save the file.
- If not, go to File > Print. Then, click the PDF button at the bottom and choose Save as PDF.
- Check the Export to PDF option under File menu:
- Rename and Save:
- Follow the prompts to rename the file and choose a location to save it.
- Upload and finalize PDF:
- Upload the saved file to the eFiling system again
